Baku: A trial concerning individuals accused of war crimes will proceed under Azerbaijan’s legal framework and international conventions, as stated by Kamran Aliyev, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This announcement was made during a session with journalists, as reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the trial, which began on January 17, addresses various grave accusations. These include crimes against peace and humanity, such as waging an aggressive war, genocide, forced displacement of populations, persecution, torture, military robbery, and other unlawful actions. The charges are directed against the Armenian state, its armed forces, and the so-called “Nagorno-Garabagh Republic,” which was established by Armenia in the territories of Azerbaijan it previously occupied.
The trial aims to hold accountable those responsible for the alleged crimes committed against Azerbaijan and its people. The proceedings are expected to adhere strictly to both national laws and international legal standards, ensuring a comprehensive judicial process.
