Baku:Pakistan’s Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Wajiha Qamar, emphasized the critical role of media in fostering mutual understanding and trust between societies during her address at the CICA Media Forum.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Qamar spoke at the second panel session titled “The Role of Media in Strengthening Social Cohesion and Intercultural Dialogue.” She highlighted the media’s influence on public opinion and social ties, stressing the responsibility of journalism in promoting accurate information.
She noted that while the media has the power to bridge divides and foster dialogue, distorted information can lead to increased mistrust. Authentic stories about cultures and everyday life, she argued, are essential in promoting mutual respect and understanding.
Qamar also pointed out that international platforms like CICA are crucial for advancing shared goals, enhancing mutual trust, and fostering constructive dialogue among different societies.
