Media and Broadcasting Council Condemns Disinformation on Hijab-Related Arrests in Azerbaijan

Baku:The Media and Broadcasting Council of Azerbaijan has issued a strong condemnation of disinformation circulating about alleged mass arrests over hijab in the country. These unfounded reports, purportedly spread by some Turkish media outlets and social media accounts, claim that mass arrests have led to people leaving Azerbaijan.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the council described these reports as a clear example of disinformation aimed at exploiting religious sensitivities, manipulating public opinion, and misrepresenting Azerbaijan. The council emphasized that the involvement of certain political and public figures in spreading such fabricated information and presenting baseless claims in offensive terms is a violation of their public responsibilities and an unacceptable abuse of their influence.

The Media and Broadcasting Council has called on media representatives, political figures, and the public to act responsibly. They urged the public to critically assess information, verify it against reliable sources, and refrain from disseminating false information.
