Oil Transportation Via BTC Decreased by Nearly 6%

Baku: In January-July of this year, 21,553.9 thousand tons of oil were transported through oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, marking a 5.3% decline compared to the same period last year, as reported by the State Statistical Committee to APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 75% of the total oil transportation was executed through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline (BTC). During the reporting period, 16,156.1 thousand tons of oil were transported through this pipeline, which represents a 5.9% decrease from the previous year.

Breaking down the figures, 83.6% or 13,510.2 thousand tons of the oil transported via the BTC pipeline was produced in Azerbaijan, experiencing a decline of 3.2%. Meanwhile, 16.4% or 2,645.9 thousand tons of the oil was imported from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, showing a significant decrease of 17.7%.

Last year, a total of 38,752.1 thousand tons of oil was transported through oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, reflecting a 2.5% decrease compared to the year before. During the same period, 76% of the oil was transported via the BTC pipeline, totaling 29,470.9 thousand tons, which was 2.4% less than the previous year.
