Iranian Ambassador Highlights Cooperation Opportunities at World Urban Forum in Baku


Baku: The World Urban Forum (WUF13) being held in Baku is recognized as one of the largest global forums in urban planning, according to Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilou, who made a statement to APA. The ambassador stated that Azerbaijan’s role as host of this significant international event underscores the country’s keen interest in urban planning. He expressed that the forum provides an avenue to enhance focus on urban planning and strengthen bilateral cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ambassador remarked that Iran has organized a dedicated pavilion at WUF13. He elaborated on the longstanding relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of maintaining and developing these ties. He noted the positive dynamics in political, economic, and other areas, highlighting the potential for further collaboration. The ambassador suggested that these opportunities should be leveraged for the benefit of the peoples of both countries and for regional stability and cooperation.



The ambassador further commented on the new opportunities presented by WUF13, stating that such events allow Iran and Azerbaijan to better understand each other’s projects, experiences, and methodologies. He mentioned the potential for learning about urban planning innovations in Azerbaijan and sharing Iranian expertise in return. He expressed optimism that the forum would serve as a catalyst for enhanced cooperation.



The ambassador also pointed out significant opportunities for scientific collaboration, citing previous successful partnerships between Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and Azerbaijan Medical University. He advocated for the revival and strengthening of these joint medical programs and operations. Additionally, he highlighted the potential in the fields of economy, transport, industry, and urban planning, noting the active participation of strong companies from East Azerbaijan Province that could offer mutual benefits.
