Baku: This year, the installed capacity of Azerbaijan’s energy system has reached 8,976 MW, said Yusif Garayev, First Deputy Vice President of Azerenerji JSC, during his speech at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, compared to 2018, the installed capacity of Azerbaijan’s overall energy system, including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, increased from 6,300 MW to 8,976 MW by 2025, marking an increase of 2,676 MW.
Yusif Garayev mentioned that alongside this growth, the share of renewable energy sources in the energy system also saw an increase of 2.5 percentage points, now constituting 4.2% or 379.1 MW.
Currently, the structure of the installed capacity in Azerbaijan’s energy system is divided into Thermal Power Plants, which account for 7,199.5 MW or 80.2% of the total installed capacity, and Hydroelectric Power Plants, including Small Hydroelectric Power Plants, which contribute 1,397.4 MW or 15.6%.
