Event on Radiation Safety Organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations


Baku:The State Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities, part of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, organized an event with the Ministry’s North-West Regional Center to raise awareness about nuclear and radiation safety.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, The event was attended by representatives from local executive authorities, heads of enterprises connected to ionizing radiation, and members of the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ local structures.



Deputy Head of the North-West Regional Center, Mammad Baghirov, opened the event by stressing the importance of awareness-raising activities, emphasizing safe usage of ionizing radiation sources, adherence to safety requirements, and enhancing awareness among professionals in the field. He also pointed out the necessity of strengthening regional cooperation and information exchange among relevant agencies.



Akbar Guliyev, Deputy Head of the Agency, detailed the Agency’s current activities, tasks, and collaborative measures with regional centers. The event covered topics such as nuclear and radiological activities, control mechanisms, orphan radioactive sources, inter-agency coordination in emergencies, and management strategies.



Participants also benefited from presentations, video materials, and a detailed question-and-answer session led by Agency employees.
