Combined GDP of OTS Member States Nears $600 Billion in Q1


Istanbul: In the first quarter of 2025, the combined GDP of the member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) reached 593.8 billion US dollars, accounting for 2.1% of the global economy, APA-Economics reports citing the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, with an average economic growth rate of 5.04%, the Turkic states have surpassed the World Bank’s estimated global average growth rate of 2.3% for 2025 by more than twice. Kyrgyzstan showed 13.1%, Uzbekistan 6.8%, Northern Cyprus 6.4%, Turkmenistan 6.3%, and Kazakhstan 5.6% growth, while Trkiye and Azerbaijan achieved moderate growth of 2.0% and 0.3%, respectively. Hungary experienced a slight decrease of 0.2% in GDP.



Recall that the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was established on November 1, 2012, based on the Nakhchivan Agreement signed at the Summit held in the city of Nakhchivan on October 3, 2009. At the time of establishment, the organization was named the ‘Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTSS)’. In 2021, the organization’s name was changed, and it currently operates under the name ‘Organization of Turkic States’.



The Republic of Azerbaijan is one of the four founding countries of the organization, which currently has 5 member states: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Trkiye. Hungary, Turkmenistan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have observer status in the organization. The organization’s headquarters is located in Istanbul, Trkiye. Since November 11, 2022, the Secretary-General has been Kubanychbek Omuraliev from Kyrgyzstan.
