Leipzig: Azerbaijan’s strategic position at the crossroads of the East-West and North-South transport corridors was underscored by Hirohisa Tsuruta, Japan’s Deputy Minister for Policy of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, during the Annual Summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF) in Leipzig, Germany.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Tsuruta praised the leadership role that Azerbaijan has played over the past year in enhancing regional connectivity. He specifically acknowledged the presentations by Rahman Humbatov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, which emphasized the potential of the Middle Corridor. Tsuruta noted Azerbaijan’s central role in fostering connectivity between Eastern Asian and European markets, highlighting its significance for the global economy.
The Japanese deputy minister shared his insights during a special session on ‘The Middle Corridor: A Strategic Investment in Resilient, Competitive and Future-Ready Eurasian Connectivity.’ He emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan’s location for the functionality of the Middle Corridor, stressing the need for regional stability to enhance its effectiveness. Tsuruta expressed his support for Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
