Azerbaijan’s Modern Logistics Infrastructure Enhances Trade Prospects with Africa


Addis ababa: An Azerbaijani delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev visited Ethiopia. During the meetings, held as part of the visit, discussions mainly focused on boosting trade and economic ties, expanding investment cooperation, and exploring partnerships in energy, agriculture, and industry.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Elnur Aliyev met with Ethiopia’s Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Kassahun Gofe. The meeting highlighted the strong high-level partnership between Azerbaijan and Ethiopia, stressing the need to enhance the legal and institutional framework for economic cooperation and to enhance trade and investment relations through business missions and investment promotion activities.



During the meeting with Ethiopia’s State Minister of Mines Birhanie Yadesa, the sides discussed cooperation in energy and natural resources, including renewable energy. Azerbaijan’s experience in the energy sector and international projects was shared, highlighting the importance of knowledge exchange. Discussions also covered industrial zones and logistics, with emphasis on Azerbaijan’s investment climate, including the Alat Free Economic Zone, industrial parks, and incentives in the liberated territories.



During the meeting with Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment, Moses Vilakati, the parties discussed cooperation in agriculture and food security, highlighting innovation, water resource management, and rural development. They also emphasized the importance of strengthening SME cooperation and promoting entrepreneurship, best practices, and joint initiatives to enhance economic ties.



The meetings highlighted Azerbaijan’s strategic location at the crossroads of major transport corridors, offering key advantages for regional and global trade. The country’s modern logistics infrastructure was also noted as opening new opportunities for cooperation with African countries. The visit will contribute to expanding economic ties between Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, and the African Union, as well as identifying new areas of partnership.
