Azerbaijan Launches Pilot Electronic System for Tax Compliance

Baku:An innovative electronic field control system has been introduced in Azerbaijan, allowing taxpayers to voluntarily correct detected violations before facing fines. This development was announced by Samir Khaligov, the Acting Head of the Main Department of Tax Risk Management at the State Tax Service, during the “Digital Financial Ecosystem A New Stage in Governance” conference held in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the system is currently being implemented in pilot mode within one of Azerbaijan’s regions. Taxpayers receive electronic notifications about any detected violations and are given a specific timeframe to address these issues, thereby avoiding penalties.

Samir Khaligov emphasized that the State Tax Service is committed to a preventative approach in tax control. The focus is on identifying and preventing violations before they occur, rather than implementing measures post-violation. The overarching goal is to timely inform taxpayers about potential risks, promote voluntary compliance, and enhance the overall efficiency of tax administration.
