Azerbaijan to Gradually Phase Out Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles

Baku:Passenger cars with internal combustion engines (ICE) will be gradually phased out in Azerbaijan, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, this initiative is part of the document “Azerbaijan’s Long-Term Low-Carbon Development Strategy.” The strategy includes measures planned by 2035 to initiate the phase-out of ICE vehicles and to increase the share of electric vehicles in the passenger car fleet. Additionally, the adoption of electric vehicles will be supported through incentive programs.

By 2060, the plan aims to have 100% of the passenger car fleet powered by electric and other alternative energy sources. The strategy will continue promoting the adoption of electric vehicles through various incentive programs while gradually phasing out ICE vehicles.
