Baku: Azerbaijan is advancing its international collaborations in artificial intelligence (AI) with strategic partnerships involving the United States, Israel, and several Asian nations. “Artificial intelligence is a rapidly developing field on a global scale, and studying international experience and ensuring access to advanced technologies are of particular importance in this direction,” stated Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov during an interview with ‘APA-Economics’.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a significant development in this endeavor was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Azerbaijan and the United States in August 2025. This agreement focuses on fostering partnerships in AI as a crucial component of bilateral cooperation. Deputy Minister Asadov highlighted that Minister Rashad Nabiyev’s visit to the United States last year was instrumental in advancing these agreements. Discussions during the visit centered on implementing joint projects, exchanging knowledge, and sharing expertise in AI and digital development.
The scope of Azerbaijan’s international cooperation extends beyond the United States. Throughout 2025, Azerbaijan engaged in discussions with official bodies and companies from China, Korea, Japan, and other nations to explore new partnership opportunities in AI. The visit to Israel by Minister Nabiyev marked another pivotal step, resulting in a Memorandum of Understanding with Israel’s National Artificial Intelligence Directorate. This agreement aims to develop and apply advanced AI models, establish an experimental laboratory, and build high-performance computing infrastructure while fostering human capital development, academic research, and public-private partnerships.
Personnel training, technological knowledge exchange, joint project implementation, and innovative solution application are identified as primary priorities in Azerbaijan’s international cooperation strategy. These partnerships aim to facilitate the application of advanced technologies in Azerbaijan, enable local specialists to gain from international experiences, and enhance the effectiveness of the nation’s strategic initiatives.
