World Bank Raises Gas Price Forecast for Europe and United States


Baku: The World Bank has updated its forecast for natural gas prices in Europe and the United States for 2026-2027, APA-Economics reports, citing the Bank’s April outlook. The average price of natural gas in Europe is projected at $15 per 1 mln BTU in 2026, which is $4.2 higher than the previous forecast, and $12 in 2027, $2.2 higher than the previous forecast.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the average gas price in the United States is expected to stand at $3.8 per 1 mln BTU in 2026, which is $0.1 lower than the previous forecast. In 2027, the price is expected to be $4 per 1 mln BTU, $0.1 higher than the previous forecast. The World Bank’s calculations indicate that the average gas price in 2025 was $12 in Europe and $3.5 in the United States.



Gas prices in Europe are expected to increase by 25.4% year-on-year in 2026 and decrease by 20% in 2027. Meanwhile, in the United States, gas prices are projected to rise by 7.8% in 2026 and by 5.3% in 2027. It should be noted that the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline began on December 31, 2020.
