No Changes Planned to $300 Duty-Free Import Limit for Individuals, Says Customs Chief


Baku: No changes are envisaged regarding the import by individuals of goods worth the equivalent of 300 US dollars for personal use without paying customs duties, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Shahin Baghirov said during the discussion of the draft law on amendments to the Customs Code at today’s meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, APA reports.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, in accordance with the ‘Rules for the preferential and simplified movement across the customs border of goods by individuals not intended for production or commercial purposes,’ goods (excluding excisable goods and motor vehicles) with a total customs value not exceeding the equivalent of 300 US dollars, imported once per calendar month into the customs territory in the name of the same individual via international postal shipments or through a carrier company and considered not intended for production or commercial purposes, may be moved across the customs border under preferential conditions (without paying customs duties).



It should be noted that, in accordance with the ‘Rules for the preferential and simplified movement across the customs border of goods by individuals not intended for production or commercial purposes,’ goods (excluding excisable goods and motor vehicles) with a total customs value not exceeding the equivalent of 300 US dollars, imported once per calendar month into the customs territory in the name of the same individual via international postal shipments or through a carrier company and considered not intended for production or commercial purposes, may be moved across the customs border under preferential conditions (without paying customs duties).
