Baku: Information on public transport for World Urban Forum 13 participants has been released, the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company told APA. According to the information, transport in the city of Baku is conveniently organized through metro, buses, railways, airport express routes, taxi services, and micromobility options.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, it was noted that payments on metro and buses are made using BakiKart, while ADY cards are used for railway travel. Payments can also be made via mobile applications, QR tickets, and NFC contactless payment methods. ‘The nearest metro station to the WUF13 venue is ‘Koroglu’. The metro operates daily from 06:00 to 00:00, while trains on the Absheron Circular Railway line run from 06:30 to 23:00. The H1 airport express route provides 24-hour transport connection between the airport and the city center and passes through the Koroglu Transport Interchange Center.
To plan trips across the city more conveniently, participants can use the BakiKart, ADY, and AYNA ‘MaaS’ mobile applications. These apps provide information on route options, nearby stops, real-time tracking, balance top-ups, and environmentally friendly travel options. The ‘Accessible Metro’ service is also available for persons with disabilities. In addition, taxi services and approximately 50 km of bicycle and scooter lanes in Baku provide additional mobility options for participants.
With thousands of visitors and official delegations expected to attend, the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company is working closely with relevant state institutions and the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency to deliver an optimized transport strategy. By integrating with the existing public transport network and implementing appropriate traffic management measures, a comprehensive transport system will ensure an accessible, efficient, and sustainable travel experience for participants throughout the event.
Throughout the event, a free transport system will be available for all accredited participants, providing connections between the Baku Olympic Stadium and key city venues, as well as transport hubs near accommodation areas. In Baku, several types of taxi services are available, including metered, call-based, and app-based options provided by both international and local companies. Around 50 km of dedicated bicycle and scooter lanes have been developed across 31 streets and avenues in Baku, including infrastructure such as traffic light phases, safety barriers, and designated parking zones.
