Volume of Transit Shipments Between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan Announced


Baku: The volume of transit shipments between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan exceeded 2 million tons last year, and in the first half of this year, it surpassed 1 million tons. This was stated at the 8th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan held in Baku.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting highlighted opportunities to strengthen the partnership between the two countries in various sectors, including trade, energy, industrial parks, transport, business, and agriculture. There was a particular focus on the Alat free economic zone as a pivotal area for cooperation.



Additionally, information was provided about Azerbaijan’s improving economic indicators, its favorable business and investment environment, and its transport and logistics infrastructure capabilities. The prospects of the Zangezur corridor were also discussed as a significant development for regional connectivity. The importance of expanding ties among business circles was emphasized, and Turkmenistan investors were actively invited to engage in cooperative ventures.
