Azerbaijan Resettles 17 Families to Ballija Village in Khojaly District

Khojaly: As part of the Great Return program, another group of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) has been relocated to the village of Ballija in the Khojaly district, according to the Public Relations Department of the Service for Restoration, Construction, and Management in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, as reported by APA’s Karabakh bureau.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this stage of resettlement involved 17 families, totaling 62 individuals, who had previously been living in various regions of Azerbaijan, primarily in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings. This relocation marks a significant step in the ongoing effort to return people to their native lands.

Sabuhy Gahramanov, Deputy Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi and Aghdara and Khojaly districts, was present to congratulate the returning residents and hand over the keys to their new homes. The initiative is part of a larger plan to repopulate areas liberated from occupation.

The ongoing project, in line with President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions, continues to facilitate the return of former IDPs to their home regions. Currently, more than 50,000 people are engaged in implementing various projects across Karabakh and East Zangezur. These projects involve work in local government departments, as well as in sectors such as health, education, culture, tourism, industry, and energy, which are resuming operations in these regions.
