Baku:The Investment and Partnership Forum in Baku, themed ‘Green Energy Corridor – From Feasibility Study to Implementation,’ hosted a panel discussion on the technological solutions and practical implementation opportunities for the Green Energy Corridor project.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the panel discussion was moderated by Maxim Zubov, Vice President for Sub-Regions Türkiye, Central Asia, and Western Europe at Siemens Energy. It featured representatives from various companies, including Jan De Nul, Prysmian, NKT, ZTT, Hengtong, Hellenic Cable, and Orient Cable.
Notable presentations were given by Filip Olde Bijvank of Jan De Nul Group, Tommaso Noya of Prysmian, Ercihan Kurt of NKT, Adnan Muhammad of ZTT, Konstantinos Tastavridis of Hengtong, Timoleon Manolopoulos of Hellenic Cable, and Lai Wei of Orient Cable NBO UK. The discussions centered on high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technologies, the production and installation of submarine power cables, EPC services, and innovative technological solutions.
The panel underscored the necessary production and contracting capabilities for the project’s technical implementation and highlighted the readiness of technology suppliers. It also discussed opportunities for international industrial companies to participate in large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
A significant point of discussion was Jan De Nul’s presentation on a novel cable technology capable of deployment at depths exceeding 4,000 meters, which has successfully undergone testing. This technology, contingent on suitable financing mechanisms, could be implemented as part of the Green Energy Corridor project.
The session served as a platform to assess the project’s technological readiness, explore cooperation opportunities with potential suppliers and contractors, and facilitate the transition to the practical implementation phase.
