Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has issued an interlocutory order directed at transport entrepreneurs, mandating that they refrain from closing public transport services and launching strikes in the sector.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the order was issued by a single bench of Justice Nitya Nanda Pandeya. This decision on Wednesday aims to prevent actions that would directly impact citizens by halting public transport services. The court has summoned both parties to discuss whether the interlocutory order should remain in effect.
The legal proceedings were initiated following a writ petition filed by Advocate Bimal Pokharel. The petition argued that public transport entrepreneurs were infringing upon citizens’ constitutional rights by shutting down public transport services, which are deemed essential.
