Khankendi: “New schools and kindergartens are under construction in the Fuzuli and Aghdam districts,” said Emin Huseynov, special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavand districts, during the 7th ADA Political Forum on April 8, held at Karabakh University on the topic ‘Facing the New World Order’, APA’s correspondent in Khankendi reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Emin Huseynov emphasized that Azerbaijan’s territories were completely destroyed and devastated during the occupation. He remarked that the aftermath of the occupation left only ruins, and in some cases, even the ruins had disappeared. Cultural objects, mosques, and trees were not spared from the plunder. This extensive destruction underscores the complexity of the reconstruction process.
Huseynov also addressed ongoing regional infrastructure projects, noting the establishment of a new airport, four reservoirs, two hydroelectric power stations, and three main pipelines. Plans for the construction of eight residential neighborhoods are underway, with one neighborhood already completed. Efforts to design and develop villages are in progress, and construction has commenced on two residential areas.
Furthermore, Huseynov highlighted the construction of five schools and kindergartens in Fuzuli and Aghdam. In addition to these reconstruction initiatives, cultural and historical projects are also being pursued. Among them is the restoration of the Juma mosque in Aghdam. This mosque, although structurally sound, was desecrated and repurposed during the occupation, being used to house animals such as pigs and cattle. The restoration aims to return the mosque to its original state.
