Sharp Increase in Capital Expenditures for South Caucasus Pipeline.

Baku: In the first three quarters of 2024, the South Caucasus Pipeline Company (SCPC) spent around $60 million in operating expenditure and about $13 million in capital expenditure in total, increasing 22.4% and 2.9 times, respectively, APA-Economics reports citing BP’s third-quarter report on its operations in Azerbaijan for the current year.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the SCP has been operational since late 2006, transporting Shah Deniz gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Trkiye. The expanded section of the pipeline commenced commercial deliveries to Trkiye in June 2018 and to Europe in December 2020.

The report notes that during the three quarters, the daily average export throughput of the SCP was 61.7 million cubic metres of gas per day.

SCPC shareholders are: bp (operator – 29.99%), Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) (21.02%), LUKOIL (19.99%), TPAO (19.00%) and NICO (10.00%).
