Salaries of teachers to double in next 7 years – Shavkat Mirziyoyev

Current president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in his campaign speech in Bukhara that a system for issuing qualification certificates to teachers would be introduced by 2030 and their monthly wages would be doubled. “A system for issuing a qualification certificate will be introduced, which evaluates not only knowledge, but also the skills and abilities of teachers. In general, the monthly salary of teachers will double in the next seven years,” he stated. According to Mirziyoyev, educational programs of pedagogical universities will also be adapted to the teaching and assessment methods of the presidential schools. A teacher who has received a qualification certificate will be paid an additional fee increased from the current 40% to 70%. The head of state added that the load on teachers would be reduced. A system of bonuses for long-term work experience will be introduced as well. The weekly workload for elementary school teachers will be reduced from 18 hours to 16 hours, and for high school teachers from 20 hours to 18 hours. The monthly salary of 150,000 teachers not working full-time will be increased by an average of 30%, the President believes. It should be noted that Shavkat Mirziyoyev has repeatedly stated that he prioritizes increasing the authority of teachers and improving their financial support. In particular, the head of state announced in his inaugural speech upon entering the second term of the presidency on November 6, 2021, that measures would be taken to increase the salaries of high-class teachers and doctors to $1,000 within 5 years.
