Gabala: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered press statements following their meeting on April 25.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the leaders discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including strategic partnerships and mutual support for territorial integrity and sovereignty.
President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the regularity of meetings between the two countries, marking this as the seventh meeting over four years. He emphasized the strong political foundation of Azerbaijan-Ukraine relations, underscored by strategic partnership documents signed in 2008 and 2011. These documents signify mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, which both countries continue to uphold in international forums. Aliyev also noted the successful collaboration in energy, military-technical cooperation, and trade, with a call to further increase the trade turnover, which has surpassed half a billion dollars.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the continued support from Azerbaijan, especially during Ukraine’s ongoing conflict. He acknowledged the signing of six important documents during the visit, focusing on security and defense industry growth. Zelenskyy praised Azerbaijan’s humanitarian support, including aid packages and care for Ukrainian children affected by the war. He outlined discussions on energy cooperation and peace efforts, stressing Ukraine’s need for reliable partners amid ongoing regional conflicts.
The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation in various sectors, particularly in defense, to ensure stability and peace for their countries.
