Sadyr Zhaparov lays capsule for construction of academy of FC Barcelona in Bishkek

The sports complex will be built in the south of the capital, its area will be 15.85 hectares. The infrastructure of the complex will include a large football stadium with a capacity of 10 thousand people, a football academy with 2 large fields and several small football fields. Also on the territory of the complex will be built a gym, a modern swimming pool, a 7-storey medical clinic, a museum, a cafe and a hotel under the brand “Barcelona” (Barça).
The project of the complex also includes a comprehensive school for 1,000 students and a kindergarten for 700 students. The academy will train 240-300 pupils on a permanent basis and about 2 thousand more children from the regions will have the opportunity to attend sections of the football academy.
The volume of investments attracted for the implementation of the project is about 10 billion soms. The construction of the complex is planned to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2026.
The capsule-laying ceremony was held with the participation of President of the FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, as well as the famous ex-players of the Catalan team.
The head of state in his speech noted that the eminent football club was implementing its projects in Central Asia for the first time.
‘As you know, the grand opening of the academy of the Barcelona football club took place in Jalal-Abad yesterday. The Kyrgyz people accepted this event with great joy. The academy is the first large-scale project of the club in Central Asia, and therefore it will take a special place in the history of Kyrgyz football. Today we are laying a capsule for the construction of the same modern international academy in our capital,’ Sadyr Zhaparov said.
At the same time, the President stressed that in Kyrgyzstan today much attention is paid to the development of modern sports infrastructure. Work in this direction is one of the priority tasks, and the opening of a football academy in Jalal-Abad and the start of construction of a second one in Bishkek are vivid confirmation of this.
‘Sports academies in the future will have a positive effect on the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among young people, as well as on the formation of a healthy generation and a healthy nation,’ he emphasized.
In conclusion, Sadyr Zhaparov thanked President of the Barcelona football club Joan Laporta, the legendary players of this team for their personal participation in the launch of joint projects in Kyrgyzstan and expressed his belief that the students of the academies in Jalal-Abad and Bishkek would follow the path of the greatest football players.
