Russian Interior Ministry Declares Azerbaijani Diaspora Leader in Yekaterinburg Wanted

Yekaterinburg: The head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Yekaterinburg, Shahin Shikhlinski, has been placed on the wanted list, as reported by APA, citing Russian media.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Shahin Shikhlinski has been officially included in the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ list of wanted individuals. The charges against him are based on a specific article of the Russian Criminal Code.

The situation escalated on July 17, when Russian media announced a federal search for Shikhlinski, accusing him of using violence against a representative of the authorities. Previously, Shikhlinski was detained on July 1 in Yekaterinburg, during which a law enforcement officer sustained injuries. Although Shikhlinski was released after the detention, the incident has led to further legal actions.

His son, Mutvala Shikhlinski, was also detained in relation to the incident, and a criminal case has been initiated against him under the same charge of using violence against an authority representative. Mutvala is currently under a two-month pretrial detention measure as the investigation continues.
