Baku: President Ilham Aliyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s unwavering support for small island states during his speech at the Leaders’ Summit of the Small Islands Developing States on Climate Change, held on November 13 as part of COP29. He highlighted the country’s efforts in providing assistance to disaster-hit countries to mitigate the impact of natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and floods.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev also outlined Azerbaijan’s contributions in supporting water supply, food security, and the restoration of cultural heritage projects. He noted that more than 10 small island states have benefited from Azerbaijan’s educational grant program, allowing students from these regions to study at universities in Azerbaijan.
