Moscow: Permission has been granted to deliver essential medication to Bakir Safarov, who is imprisoned in Russia, Seyfaddin Huseynli, the brother of Bakir Safarov, told APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Bakir Safarov, aged 62, suffers from hypertension and requires timely administration of medication along with a proper diet. Initially, there were challenges in accessing medical care, as Bakir was not examined by a doctor. This situation has been addressed with the intervention of the Azerbaijani state, allowing for the necessary medication to be delivered to him.
S. Huseynli mentioned that the investigation into the Safarov case is now entirely under the jurisdiction of Moscow, making it difficult for him to obtain personal information regarding his brother. He stated that all information is now being disseminated through official channels, and he hopes for a fair resolution for his brother soon. Huseynli also expressed concern about the lack of information regarding others detained in the same case.
Huseynli described his brother as a pedagogue and a respected individual, emphasizing the injustice of his involvement in a criminal case. The incident originated on June 27 when Russian law enforcement conducted operations in the homes of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg. During the operation, most members of the Safarov family, originally from the Aghdam district, were detained.
The operation resulted in the deaths of brothers Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov due to the violence used by law enforcement officers. Bakir Safarov, along with six others, remains in custody as per a ruling by a Yekaterinburg court.
