Outbound Tourism from Azerbaijan Slightly Declines


Baku: In January-May of this year, 807.6 thousand Azerbaijani tourists traveled abroad, APA reports citing the State Statistical Committee. This is a 0.1% decrease compared to the same period last year.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during the period, the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling to Iran increased by 27.3%, to Georgia by 22.8%, while the number of those traveling to Trkiye decreased by 6.2% and to the Russian Federation by 25.3%. Of all Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad, 36.5% went to Trkiye, 16.4% to the Russian Federation, 11.0% to Georgia, 11.0% to Iran, and 25.1% to other countries. Among those who traveled, 66.8% were men and 33.2% were women.



In the first five months of 2025, 67.8% of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad used air transport, 30.0% traveled by rail or road, and 2.2% by sea.
