Baku: “Claims by the Prime Minister of Armenia during his interview to Public TV dated 25 January, about alleged use of psychotropic substances against representatives of separatist regime aiming at inciting regional escalation, has no ground and is a pure mockery,” said Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, while commenting on allegations made by Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia during his interview to Public TV, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, all the rights and duties of the accused individuals are duly ensured and explained, with court proceedings and testimonies properly recorded. Allegations of ill-treatment against prisoners in Azerbaijan have been independently investigated, including by the International Committee of the Red Cross, and found to be false.
The spokesperson further elaborated that the statement from the Armenian side reveals the nervousness within Armenia’s political establishment regarding the ongoing trials of those accused of war crimes. These individuals were previously supported by Armenia in their acts of aggression against Azerbaijan.
Hajizada reminded that despite the Armenian Prime Minister’s ostensible recognition of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, he had been promoting the puppet regime in Azerbaijani territories and had even congratulated the separatist junta regime on their so-called ‘independence’ on 2 September 2023. This occurred just weeks before the representatives were brought to justice in Azerbaijan.
The spokesperson concluded by emphasizing Armenia’s state responsibility and its undeniable illegal actions as an occupying and aggressive country. He asserted that holding the perpetrators accountable is a just cause that should not be undermined by political manipulations.
