Nearly USD 1.3 Billion Allocated to Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli Oil Fields in 2024.

Baku: In the first three quarters of 2024, approximately USD 1.37 billion was spent on activities related to the “Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli” (ACG) oil and gas fields block, this was reflected on the report dedicated to the results of the first third quarter of the current year on the activities of the bp company in Azerbaijan. bp and its co-venturers spent about $402 million in operating expenditure and about $968 million in capital expenditure on ACG activities.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a new 4-dimensional high-definition ocean bottom node seismic programme was launched on ACG in 2024. The programme, focusing on the Balakhany and Fasila reservoirs, covers an area of 740 square kilometres under source and 507 square kilometres under receivers. With a total cost of around $370 million and a duration of five years, this initiative represents the largest-ever seismic acquisition commitment made by bp globally. In mid-April 2024, oil production commenced from the new Azeri Central East platform, marking the seventh offshore platform installed on the ACG field in the Caspian Sea. During the third quarter of 2024, ACG continued to deliver stable production, averaging about 339,000 barrels per day, totaling approximately 93 million barrels for the first three quarters.

At the end of the third quarter, 147 oil wells were producing, while 47 were used for water and eight for gas injection. In addition, ACG completed the drilling of 11 oil producer wells, two water injector wells, and one cuttings re-injection well during the first three quarters of the year.
