More than 3,000 people in Kazakhstan caught measles, Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Azhar Giniyat said at a briefing in the government, Orda.kz reports.

“There are no closed schools. To date, more than 3,000 people have contracted measles in eight months. These are mainly children. More than 70% are unvaccinated children. Measles was brought to us from abroad, as there have been outbreaks in some neighboring countries. This incidence is growing among the unvaccinated, who do not have the immunity,” the minister explained.

She noted that there is no sharp increase in the incidence of measles in Kazakhstan, and there is no reason to close schools for quarantine.
