Leyla Aliyeva Strengthens Ties Between Azerbaijan and Vietnam During Visit


Hanoi: Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, held numerous meetings as part of her visit to Vietnam, APA reports. At the Ha Noi College of Commerce and Tourism, she engaged with representatives of the creative industry, leaders of educational institutions, and Vietnamese alumni who studied in Azerbaijan during the Soviet era.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting provided insights into the Ha Noi College of Trade and Tourism. Established in 1965, the college is recognized as a leading educational institution in Vietnam with around 3,000 students and over 50 training programs across various academic and professional levels. Discussions emphasized the close relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, underscoring the friendship between the two peoples and the role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in establishing these ties.



The meeting highlighted the 2014 state visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Vietnam as a pivotal moment in strengthening bilateral relations. Projects by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, led by First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, have further expanded these ties. The Foundation’s educational and social initiatives in Vietnam, including the construction of a primary school in H  Giang Province, were also discussed.



Leyla Aliyeva also focused on the contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to the friendship between the two countries. The current high-level relations and further expansion of ties, including educational and social projects by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, were key topics of discussion.



During her visit, Leyla Aliyeva met with Vietnamese alumni who studied in Azerbaijan between 1968 and 1990. These graduates played a significant role in fostering friendly relations between the two nations. Following Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Vietnam in 1983, the number of Vietnamese students in Azerbaijan increased significantly, with up to 5,000 Vietnamese citizens studying in Azerbaijan during the Soviet period.



A financial support certificate from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was presented to the Ha Noi College of Commerce and Tourism. The meeting concluded with a presentation of Azerbaijani cuisine by David Israfilov, Vice President of the World Barbecue Association.
