Kyrgyzstani Zholaman Sharshenbekov wins gold at Asian Games in China

Member of the Kyrgyz Greco-Roman wrestling team Zholaman Sharshenbekov won the gold medal at the Asian Games in China. Sharshenbekov competed in the weight category up to 60 kg and started from the 1/8 finals. In the first fight, Sharshenbekov defeated an athlete from Tajikistan, and then won two early victories over athletes from South Korea and Uzbekistan. In the final fight, the Kyrgyzstani fought against Ayata Suzuki from Japan and won with a score of 7:6. Zholaman Sharshenbekov recently became the world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling for the second time in a row, having won a gold medal at the World Championships in Serbia. He also won a license for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
