Kazakhstan Hosts 100th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions


Astana: The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is set to chair the 100th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in the capital city, Astana. The event will see participation from more than 60 delegations across various countries, featuring religious leaders, international institutions, and prominent political and academic figures.



According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the congress will take place from September 17-18, 2025, and will be preceded by the 16th session of the General Secretariat of the Conference on September 16. This session will be chaired by Maulin Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament and Head of the Secretariat.



A special session on the protection of religious sites is also scheduled on the sidelines of the congress. This session, organized by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, aims to convene religious and political leaders, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations to address the challenges facing places of worship and religious sanctities globally.



A notable feature of the congress is the event titled “Youth for Peaceful Coexistence: Solidarity for the Future.” This initiative involves broad participation from young religious leaders from various countries, emphasizing the role of youth in promoting peaceful coexistence.
