Istanbul: Fenerbahce missed a decisive chance in the title race after conceding a stoppage-time equalizer due to a mistake by Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson in a 2-2 draw against Caykur Rizespor on Friday, APA reports citing Trkiye Today.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the match, held at Chobani Stadium on Istanbul’s Anatolian side, was seen as a crucial step in the title run-in, particularly after Galatasaray’s 1-1 draw last week.
The Yellow-Navy Blues opened cautiously at Chobani Stadium, controlling possession through the first half but struggling to translate it into concrete chances. Despite pushing play into the opponent’s half, they went into the break without a goal.
The game tilted early in the second half when Ali Sowe struck in the 47th minute to put Rizespor ahead. Fenerbahce needed time to recover, briefly losing grip on the tempo as the visitors grew into the match.
Momentum swung again in the 72nd minute after Samet Akaydin was sent off, reducing Rizespor to 10 men and opening space for sustained pressure.
Fenerbahce capitalized quickly. Anderson Talisca converted a penalty in the 80th minute to level the score, and Kerem Akturkoglu nudged the hosts in front with a goal in the 86th minute.
