EBRD Highlights Key Priorities for Middle Corridor Development

Baku:Infrastructure investments, digitalization, and expanding economic activities beyond transport have been identified as the primary priorities for the development of the Middle Corridor, according to Nataly Mouravidze, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Resident Office in Azerbaijan. This announcement was made during the Azerbaijan-European Union Business Forum.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Mouravidze outlined three main priorities crucial for ensuring the efficient and commercially sustainable operation of the Middle Corridor. The first priority focuses on investments to eliminate existing bottlenecks in ports, railways, maritime transport infrastructure, and multimodal logistics facilities.

The second priority involves strengthening digitalization and coordination, which includes harmonizing procedures, improving data exchange, increasing transparency, and expanding cooperation among participants. The third priority centers on developing logistics, manufacturing, processing, and export-oriented activities along the corridor.

Mouravidze emphasized that businesses value the reliability, predictability, and costs of the entire transport chain rather than those of individual sections of the route.
