The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has released the results of a survey of credit activity of the banking sector for the second quarter of 2023. According to the survey, the easing of banks’ credit policies continued. Loosening of credit standards was observed mainly for business and consumer loans. That said, the easing of standards for business loans was more pronounced for loans to micro-entrepreneurs, while the easing of standards for consumer loans was more pronounced for credit cards. While the easing of consumer credit standards continued over the last quarter, there was a slowdown in the last quarter. As for household credit standards, the banks went for a tightening. Demand for credit picked up in the second quarter. Growth was seen in both business, consumer loans and mortgages. Banks believe that loan demand for all three portfolios will continue to grow in the next quarter
