Criminal Case Opened Over Missing Azerbaijani Serviceman Found in Armenia


Baku:A criminal case has been initiated following the disappearance of Nasimi Rasim oglu Musayev, an active-duty serviceman in Azerbaijan’s Lachin district.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Musayev was reported missing on September 26, 2026, when he was absent from his military post. The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations launched a search operation, while the Military Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation.



The investigation suggested Musayev may have left his post without authorization. Subsequently, a criminal case was opened by the Investigation Department of the Military Prosecutor’s Office under the relevant article of the Criminal Code.



Musayev was located in Armenia, where he is currently detained by Armenian authorities. Azerbaijani state bodies are in communication with their Armenian counterparts to clarify the circumstances surrounding Musayev’s presence and detention in Armenia. Further updates on the investigation will be shared with the public as per legal requirements.
