Court Issues Verdict in Baku Against Individual Accused of Falsely Reporting Threat to Burn Israeli Embassy


Baku: A trial was held in Baku on the criminal case of Ulfan Aliyev, who was accused of knowingly providing false information to the police regarding the burning of the Israeli embassy, APA reports. The verdict was read in the trial held at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, chaired by Judge Elnur Nuriyev.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ulfan Aliyev has been sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. He will serve his sentence in a general-regime correctional facility. The indictment revealed that Aliyev, born in 1990, made a call to the ‘102’ service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in January, threatening to burn the Israeli embassy and plant a bomb in a police station.



During the threatening call, Aliyev stood 20 meters in front of the embassy, claimed he had picked up a flake, and threatened to burn the ambassador. He also expressed his intention to set himself on fire in front of the embassy. Consequently, he was charged under Article 216 of the Criminal Code for knowingly providing false information about terrorism.
