Secretary General of the Council of Europe’s latest statement regarding the Khankendi-Lachin road, which is not based on truth, concerns us, Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva said, Office of the Ombudsman told APA.
“Our side previously made statements regarding the absence of any obstacles to the passage of vehicles of Azerbaijani citizens of Armenian origin living in Karabakh on the Khankendi-Lachin road for humanitarian purposes.
I would like to note once again today that Azerbaijan currently provides the passage of vehicles through the mentioned road for humanitarian purposes, and as it is claimed, there could be no question of any humanitarian crisis there. We urge you to refrain from making these statements before understating the heart of the issue.
We consider making these kinds of statements which do not carry any truth elevates the tension in the region and hinders the peace process.
At the same time, we would like to draw the attention of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe to the problem of mines in our liberated territories. This problem delays the safe return of hundred thousands of people displaced from their lands for nearly 30 years,” she stressed.
