The opening ceremony of the Central Asian Tennis Championship among children under 12 years old took place in the tennis complex of the Olympic Town. The ceremony started with the removal of the National flags of the participating countries of the championship, which appeared in the arena in alphabetical order. The national flag of the host country of the championship, Turkmenistan, closed a kind of parade. The opening ceremony was attended by the representative of the International Tennis Federation Amir Borgei and the head of the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan Eziz Dovletov. A colorful performance prepared by Turkmen creative ensembles unfolded in the arena of the complex. Folklore and dance groups of the country also demonstrated their bright performing skills. The tournament is held with the assistance of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). More than 30 tennis players from Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan take part in the competition. Duels of the tournament in the format of doubles and singles will be held on modern indoor courts. The main referee of the competition will be the Iranian Seftejani Mohammadhassan Lachinani. The final matches of the championship will be held on June 9. In the first match, Turkmen tennis players will play against rivals from Kyrgyzstan. In parallel matches, Uzbekistan will meet with the team of Tajikistan, and Afghanistan will play a match with Kazakhstan. “All teams are well prepared. We will make every effort to win. As the responsible curator of the Asian region in the International Tennis Federation (ITF), Amir Borgei, noted, we managed to unite all six participating countries. This happened in 2019, when the tournament was held in Ashgabat for the first time. And now the team of Afghanistan is again among the participants of the Central Asian Championship,” the head of the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan told ORIENT.
