Besiktas Secures Historic Win Over Fenerbahce, Title Race Slips Away For Hosts

Istanbul: Besiktas claimed a crucial 1-0 victory over Fenerbahce in the 34th round of the Turkish Super Lig, marking the first time in 20 years the Black Eagles have defeated their rivals both home and away in a single season, APA reports citing Trkiye Today.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Besiktas’ Gedson Fernandes redeemed himself after missing an earlier penalty, netting the winning goal in the 44th minute following a defensive lapse by Fenerbahce’s Mert Muldur.

Meanwhile, Besiktas goalkeeper Mert Gunok starred with eight decisive saves, denying multiple close-range efforts from Anderson Talisca and Edin Dzeko.
