Dushanbe: Three Azerbaijani judokas have reached the finals of the Grand Slam tournament held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, APA reports. Vugar Talibov and Eljan Hajiyev faced off for the championship in the 90 kg weight category. Eljan Hajiyev won the decisive match and experienced the joy of winning the championship in the Grand Slam tournaments for the first time in his career. Vugar Talibov won the silver medal.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, in the +100 kg weight category, Azerbaijani judoka Jamal Gamzatkhanov is set to compete against Tajikistan’s Temur Rahimov in the final. Meanwhile, Kenan Nasibov will meet Uzbek representative Utkirbek Turoboyev in the fight for the bronze medal in the same weight category.
It should be noted that before these developments, Azerbaijani judoka Balabey Aghayev had already secured a gold medal in the 60 kg category, adding to the country’s successful performance in the tournament.
