The European vector has been and remains on the agenda of Turkmenistan’s international energy cooperation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov speaker of the Upper House of the Turkmen Parliament (‘Halk Maslahaty’) said. His statements, made on September 29 in Berlin at a meeting of the heads of delegations of the Central Asian states and representatives of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, are quoted by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan. According to Berdimuhamedov, Ashgabad focuses on increasing gas production capacities, expanding the multi-variant gas transportation infrastructure that allows for the supply of Turkmen natural gas to world markets. “It should be particularly noted that the European vector has been and remains on the agenda of Turkmenistan’s international energy cooperation. In this context, I want to confirm Turkmenistan’s firm position on gas supplies to Europe through the construction of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline,” Berdimuhamedov stressed. Chairman of ‘Halk Maslahaty’ noted that “a lot has been done for this in the last 15 years, a systematic partnership with the European Union has been built.” “We are ready to resume our active contacts with the relevant structures of the European Commission, individual European states and companies in the context of the implementation of major international energy projects,” Berdimuhamedov was quoted as saying by the news agency
