Baku Hosts Evening on ‘The Confucius That We Don’t Know’


Baku: On July 18, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Confucius Institute at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), and the Baku Book Center co-organized an evening dedicated to ancient Chinese philosophy and culture, entitled “The Confucius That We Don’t Know”. Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, attended the event.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Lu Mei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan, addressed the gathering, offering insights into the book ‘The Confucius That We Don’t Know.’ The ambassador emphasized the book’s role in providing Azerbaijani readers with a deeper understanding of Confucian philosophy and its impact on Chinese civilization. Confucianism, the ambassador explained, has significantly shaped Chinese culture and continues to influence it today.



Ambassador Lu Mei highlighted key Confucian principles such as self-improvement, diligence, and the pursuit of the common good. These values, she noted, are crucial in fostering mutual understanding between China and Azerbaijan, contributing to a shared future for humanity. The ambassador also spoke about the ongoing friendship and partnership between the two countries, emphasizing the 33 years of diplomatic ties that have led to steady growth and cooperation across various fields.
