Baku: The 11th Meeting of the Forum of Regulatory Authorities on Television and Radio Broadcasting of the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) took place in Baku, where it was revealed that the 12th meeting of the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF) will be hosted by Albania in the fall.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ismet Sattarov, Chairman of the Audiovisual Council, began the forum with a welcoming address, highlighting the agenda’s key issues. Merve Safa Kavak§i, First Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, emphasized the goal of strengthening cooperation with the European Union and other international organizations. She identified the regulation of audiovisual media and the protection of children in media services as primary objectives, with BRAF serving as a crucial platform for dialogue and cooperation among regional broadcasting regulatory bodies.
Deniz G§er, Secretary General of BRAF, addressed concerns about harmful content affecting children in media and the portrayal of children on social media. She stressed the importance of finding solutions to safeguard children in broadcasting services, a shared concern among participants.
The meeting gathered approximately 30 leaders and representatives from audiovisual media regulatory bodies, including those from Serbia, Romania, Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Moldova, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. Officials from the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Media Development Agency, and media representatives were also in attendance. The primary focus of the meeting was ‘Protection of Children in Media Services,’ with panel sessions exploring legal regulation and media literacy’s role in child protection.
