AzerGold Establishes First Foreign Subsidiary in Uzbekistan

Accra:Baku AzerGold CJSC has officially registered its first foreign subsidiary, ‘AzerGold Uzbekistan’ Foreign Enterprise Limited Liability Company (LLC), in the Republic of Uzbekistan. This marks a significant expansion in AzerGold’s international operations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, ‘AzerGold Uzbekistan’ LLC was created to bolster strategic bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, specifically in the mining and geological exploration sectors. The company’s primary focus will be on conducting comprehensive geological exploration and evaluating the mineral resources of the Akba gold deposit in the Qashqadaryo region of Uzbekistan. The necessary permits for geological exploration at the Akba gold deposit are currently being pursued, and once obtained, an 18-month exploration project will commence.

During this exploration phase, the company plans to analyze existing geological data, conduct additional explorations, evaluate mineral resources per Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) standards, and perform metallurgical testing. Environmental impact assessments and potential extraction and processing technologies will also be examined. A final feasibility study will be prepared to assess the technical and economic feasibility of developing the deposit on an industrial scale, and an investment proposal will be submitted to Uzbek state authorities.

A framework agreement was signed on June 17 between AzerGold CJSC and the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan to jointly develop the Akba gold deposit. This agreement provides a legal foundation for expanding cooperation between the two countries in the mining field.

AzerGold CJSC is also planning joint geological exploration of Uzbekistan’s promising mineral resources. On July 17, 2026, a document outlining the main terms of three-party cooperation was signed with Uzbekgeologorazvedka Joint Stock Company and the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company. The project involves creating a joint venture to conduct geological exploration between Navoi and Nurata in Uzbekistan, with a two-year geological exploration and financing plan already prepared.

The launch of AzerGold’s operations in Uzbekistan signifies a major step in applying Azerbaijan’s mining expertise internationally and is expected to strengthen economic partnerships, knowledge exchange, and AzerGold’s global activities.
