Baku: Economic growth in Azerbaijan saw a 1.7% increase in January 2026, as the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached 9 billion 78.7 million manats. This growth represents a notable rise compared to January of the previous year.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Statistical Committee reported that the oil and gas sector experienced a value-added increase of 0.6%, while the non-oil and gas sector saw a more significant rise of 2.3%. This indicates a balanced contribution from both sectors to the overall economic growth.
In terms of GDP distribution, 33.9% was attributed to industry, while trade and repair of motor vehicles accounted for 11.7%. Transport and warehousing contributed 7.8%, followed by construction at 3.6%. Agriculture, forestry, and fishing made up 3.3%, with accommodation of tourists and public catering adding 2.4%, and information and communications contributing 2.2%. Other sectors collectively accounted for 23.4% of GDP, and net taxes on products and imports constituted 11.7%.
