Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry Reviews Border Operations Amid Tensions


Baku: An official meeting was held under the leadership of Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, to review the current operational situation along the Azerbaijani-Armenian conditional border.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ministry of Defense reported that the meeting, conducted via video teleconference, included participation from Deputy Ministers, Commanders of various troops, Chiefs of Main Departments, and Heads of the National Defense University, among others.



The assembly began with a tribute to the memory of Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence. Minister Hasanov stressed that army development is a priority, in line with directives from President Ilham Aliyev. He highlighted tasks related to enhancing service and combat activities and increasing combat capabilities, as set forth by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.



The meeting addressed ongoing issues at the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, including recent shelling incidents and reconnaissance attempts by the opposing side. Minister Hasanov tasked officials with ensuring that army units remain prepared to respond to provocations, emphasizing the necessity of heightened vigilance during combat duty.



The meeting also reviewed the successful reforms within the Azerbaijan Army and discussed measures planned for the year. The Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing combat capabilities through continuous military exercises, integrating technological innovations, and improving cybersecurity measures.



Minister Hasanov highlighted the need for qualified personnel staffing, emphasizing new methods in the military education system. He provided directives for reservist training, the proper use of new weapons, and the improvement of soldiers’ living conditions, moral preparation, and material support.



Further instructions were issued for the adaptation and health monitoring of new soldiers, conducting regular educational events, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The meeting also focused on the transition of equipment for seasonal changes and ongoing engineering measures in liberated territories.



In closing, Colonel General Hasanov expressed confidence in the Azerbaijan Army’s ability to uphold the trust placed in it by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
